About the PA Medical Marijuana Program

The Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program was established in 2016 through the passage of Act 16, also known as the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act. To participate in Pennsylvania's medical marijuana program, patients must receive a recommendation from a licensed physician and then enroll in the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Patient and Caregiver Registry.

Once approved by the state, each patient is issued a medical marijuana card that allows them to purchase medical cannabis from state-licensed dispensaries.
