It is our mission to advocate for medical cannabis patients and to assist prospective applicants in navigating the registration process in their respective states. We offer our services to residents of multiple states applying for medical marijuana programs, including Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania has authorized the use of telemedicine to certify patients for medical marijuana cards. At the Sanctuary, our staff members are available to schedule a virtual appointment for you with one of our doctors. You do not need to have a prior doctor's evaluation to meet with our licensed physicians.
During your appointment, your doctor will evaluate your condition and determine if you meet the state’s requirements for medical marijuana use. If your physician believes you would benefit from marijuana use, they will submit a certificate to the Pennsylvania DOH as soon as possible. Once your information is in the system, you can continue the application process on the DOH website.
Simply call us at (412) 397-8740 to arrange a virtual meeting with a physician.
"When I needed my medical marijuana certification, I turned to the Sanctuary. They made the entire process so easy and I was able to submit my registration to the DOH with no problem and, most importantly, no judgment. Thank you!"
"Dr. Raymond was kind and well informed and I felt like he was really advocating for me. I will definitely recommend him and Sanctuary Wellness to others.* "
How It Works
At the Sanctuary, we believe that the medical marijuana application process should be as simple. We strive to connect Pennsylvania patients who need medical cards with doctors who can perform the mandatory examination. Our goal is to make the entire process as stress-free as possible.
The Sanctuary does not offer online scheduling for evaluations. However, our phone scheduling system is fast and easy—plus, our friendly staff members are available to walk you through the entire process.

To begin applying for a Pennsylvania card, you will need to register online on the PA DOH website. The registration form will ask for your contact information as well as proof of Pennsylvania residency. You can submit a driver's license or ID card as proof of residency, but make sure this document has your most current address. The system will give you a patient ID number; save it and bring this number to your appointment.
Next, it's time to attend your appointment at the Sanctuary.Eva luations usually take between 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Your doctor will ask you questions about your qualifying condition and medical records. If they believe you are eligible for a Pennsylvania medical marijuana card, your doctor will issue your certification and update your information on the PA DOH patient portal.
After your doctor verifies your certification with the state, you can complete your registration on the PA DOH website. You will need to log into the same account you used to register and submit a $50 fee. Once the PA DOH receives your registration fee, it will mail your card to the address listed on your driver's license or ID card.
You should receive your Pennsylvania medical marijuana card within 14 days. With your card, you can visit any medical marijuana dispensary to purchase up to a 30-day supply of cannabis products. We recommend speaking with a dispensary pharmacist who can recommend the best medical cannabis for your qualifying condition.
Medical marijuana has been legal in Pennsylvania since the passage of the Medical Marijuana Act in 2016. Under this law, any patient with a qualifying condition, such as spasticity or neuropathies, can apply for the medical marijuana program. Patients cannot grow their own cannabis and recreational marijuana remains illegal in Pennsylvania.
Caregivers who are 21 years or older can also apply for the Pennsylvania medical marijuana program. These caregivers must pass a background check and submit additional documents to be approved for the program, however. A patient can designate up to 2 caregivers, and a caregiver can oversee up to 5 medical marijuana patients.Call (412) 397-8740 with any questions and to schedule your evaluation
