About the PA Medical Marijuana Program

The Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program was established in 2016 with the passage of Act 16, also known as the their Medical Marijuana Act. To participate in Pennsylvania's medical marijuana program, patients must obtain a physician's recommendation and register with the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Patient and Caregiver Registry.

Once a patient is approved by the state, they are issued a medical marijuana card that allows them to purchase medical cannabis from state-licensed dispensaries.
