New Jersey ATC Locations?

In New Jersey, medical marijuana dispensaries are known as Alternative Treatment Centers (ATCs). The state has some of the toughest medical marijuana regulations in the country, and currently, this strict legislation only allows for six dispensaries to operate at a time. These rules may change in the future.

What Can You Buy at A New Jersey Dispensary?

On your cannabis prescription, your doctor will indicate how much medical marijuana you can purchase over a 30-day period. The staff members at the ATC will check your records each time you visit to ensure you are not exceeding your allotment.

New Jersey ATCs carry several strains of dried cannabis, which each carry specific benefits. You can also purchase cannabis oils, as well as topical products like creams and lotions. Edible marijuana products are also for sale, such as lozenges and candies.

What to Expect Inside A New Jersey ATC

ATCs operate in a similar manner as a medical office. When you visit an ATC for the first time, you will enter a waiting area where staff members will perform an intake procedure. The staff may require you to complete some forms, as well as provide your New Jersey cannabis card and identification for their records.

During your second and subsequent visits, the staff will check your identification and cannabis card before you are allowed in the purchasing area. You should always bring an ID and your marijuana card each time you visit an ATC.

Only a certain number of people are allowed inside the purchasing area at a time. Once it’s your turn, you will be ushered out of the waiting area into a consultation room, where you will meet with a staff member who will walk you through your purchasing options.

You will need to have cash on hand to buy your medical marijuana products. Many banks and credit card companies prohibit marijuana-related transactions, since cannabis is still illegal on a federal level. Most ATCs have an ATM on site where you can withdraw cash.
