New Jersey was the 14th U.S. state to legalize medical marijuana through the passage of the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act (CUMMA) in 2010. Stalled by Gov. Chris Christie and reopened in 2012, New Jersey’s Medical Marijuana Program (MMP) allows registered physicians to evaluate and certify their patients’ needs for medical cannabis, provided they have one of the predefined qualifying conditions.
