How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Arkansas

Schedule a visit with a certified doctor

Book online or call us. Our helpful staff can explain the steps you need to take to obtain an Arkansas medical marijuana card and book your appointment.

Meet with your doctor via phone or computer

At your appointment, your doctor will evaluate your condition and complete the Medical Marijuana Physician Written Certification from the Arkansas Department of Health. You should print out a blank copy of this form before your appointment.

Complete your online application on the Arkansas Department of Health website

You will need to submit your physician certification, an Arkansas state ID or driver’s license, and a $50 fee. It may take between 10 to 14 days to process your application.

How to Renew Your Arkansas Medical Marijuana Card

Every Arkansas medical marijuana card is valid for up to one year from the date of its issuance (possibly less than one year if your doctor decides as much). Patients can renew their MMJ cards up to 60 days prior to their expiration dates. Follow these steps to renew your Arkansas MMJ card:

  1. Schedule an appointment with a licensed Arkansas medical marijuana doctor
  2. Attend your appointment and obtain your new Physician Written Certification
  3. Submit your renewal application and pay the $50 fee

To renew your Arkansas medical marijuana card, you’ll need the following forms:

  • Patient registry application form
  • A new Physician Written Certification
  • A photocopy of the front of your Arkansas-issued driver’s license or state ID on a full sheet of paper

It will take up to 14 days for the state to process your renewal application from the date they receive it. Once the state approves you, they’ll send you your new card.

You can purchase up to 2.5 ounces or 71 grams of medical marijuana every 14 days from a single dispensary. You must buy your cannabis from a state-licensed dispensary.

Caregivers can apply for a marijuana ID card to help provide medical cannabis to their patients. Your caregiver will need to apply for a designated caregiver registry card and meet certain requirements defined by the ADH.

Arkansas passed the AR Hemp Production Act of 2021 to legalize hemp. Anyone can grow, handle, process, store, or market hemp plants, viable hemp seed, or leaf and floral materials in Arkansas by obtaining a license from the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.
