What’s It Like Buying Medical Cannabis in Arkansas?

Since medical marijuana is highly regulated by the Arkansas government, the process of purchasing it can seem complicated at first. It’s actually very simple.

At many dispensaries, you will need to complete a set of registration forms during your first visit so that the location can verify your cannabis card and identification, and enter your information into their databases. After you complete this onboarding process, you will probably have to stay in a waiting area until the dispensary employees call you into the purchasing area.

When it’s your turn, a dispensary employee also known as a “budtender” will meet with you to discuss your purchasing needs. They will guide you through the different types of cannabis you can purchase, identify what your needs are, and help you decide which option is right for you.

Different dispensaries have different processes, but most follow the same basic format. After your first visit, you won’t need to complete additional registration forms -- but you will always need to show your ID and cannabis card. Always bring these with you when visiting an Arkansas dispensary!

Applying for an Arkansas Medical Marijuana Card?

Before you can purchase medical marijuana in Arkansas, you will need to apply for a cannabis card. This requires a visit with a licensed Arkansas physician who can examine your qualified condition and certify you for medical cannabis use.

Applying for a medical marijuana card is a relatively simple process. After you meet with your doctor, all you need to do is collect proof of residency and identity, have $50 for the application fee, and submit an application to the Arkansas Department of Health. The ADH typically processes marijuana card applications within 10 to 14 days, and you can print your cannabis card immediately after approval.

The Sanctuary Wellness Institute connects Arkansas residents with physicians in their area who can provide this certification. Contact us today to learn more about this process and to schedule your evaluation!
