Virginia Medical Marijuana Qualifying Conditions

Where Can I Buy Medical Marijuana in Virginia?

There are multiple licensed medical cannabis dispensaries operating throughout Virginia. Patients with a valid written certification and government-issued photo ID—and registered agents, parents, or legal guardians when applicable—may obtain medical cannabis products from licensed Virginia dispensaries.

Under Virginia law, patients may receive no more than a 90-day supply of medical cannabis during any 90-day period, as determined by the dispensing pharmacist or certifying practitioner. For botanical cannabis (flower), no more than four ounces may be dispensed per 30-day period.

How to Become a Medical Cannabis Registered Agent in Virginia

In Virginia, a patient—or the parent or legal guardian of a minor or vulnerable adult—may designate an individual as a registered agent to purchase or receive medical cannabis on the patient’s behalf.

Registered Agent Requirements

Whether a registered agent must register with the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority (CCA) depends on how the agent is added to the patient’s certification.

  1. If the registered agent is listed on the patient’s written certification by the practitioner, separate registration with the CCA is not required.
