Where Can You Buy Cannabis in Connecticut?
To legally purchase medical marijuana in Connecticut, you will need to visit a licensed dispensary approved by the Department of Consumer Protection. As of June 2020, Connecticut operates 17 facilities across the state, including:
- Arrow Alternative Care Inc., with locations in Hartford, Milford, and Stamford
- Prime Wellness of Connecticut, LLC in South Windsor
- Affinity Health & Wellness in New Haven
- The Healing Corner/Trulieve in Bristol
You will need to bring your medical marijuana card and proof of your identity when visiting a dispensary. The dispensary staff will need this information to verify your certification and track how much cannabis you can legally purchase.
What Is It Like Visiting A Connecticut Dispensary?
Connecticut’s dispensaries are very similar to pharmacies. In fact, every person who works in a Connecticut dispensary is a pharmaceutical professional.
When you visit a Connecticut dispensary, you will enter a waiting area where a staff member will ask for your cannabis card and identification. They will then verify that information in their system and look up your prescription.
If you are a first-time visitor, the staff member will help you determine which product is right for you. Once you select your products, the staff member will go into another room to collect your prescription, and hand your prepackaged products back to you in the waiting area.
Remember to bring your medical marijuana home before you partake -- state laws prohibit using cannabis in public, including on dispensary grounds.
What Types of Marijuana Products Can You Buy?
Connecticut dispensaries sell medical marijuana in many different forms. You can purchase dried flower, and choose between different strains to find the right type for your condition. You can also purchase cannabis-infused foods, candies, or drinks, known as edibles.
Connecticut dispensaries may also carry cannabis concentrates, which are essential oils extracted from the marijuana plant. You may also purchase transdermal products, which are creams, lotions, and other topical products infused with cannabis.
Prices for these products vary depending on the strain of marijuana, the type of product, and the quality of the cannabis. Typical prices range between $10 to $30 per gram of dried flower.
