We launched The Sanctuary in Pennsylvania in 2018, and have since expanded to multiple states. Through our in-person and telehealth services, we\u2019ve helped thousands of patients access medical cannabis for a variety of qualifying conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"post_para\">At The Sanctuary, our mission is to help patients navigate the MMJ certification process with ease and ensure they have access to the relief they need. Our experienced doctors evaluate each patient&#8217;s condition, ensuring they meet the state&#8217;s qualifying criteria before issuing a medical marijuana certification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"post_para\">This article outlines data from our Pennsylvania patients since 2021, including the medical conditions for which their doctors prescribed them medical marijuana. We will also provide an overview of Pennsylvania\u2019s MMJ program, how to obtain a medical marijuana card, and how our findings align with broader state statistics.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading_all\">Key Findings<\/h2>\n<p class=\"post_para\">Here are some key insights from our Pennsylvania medical marijuana patients:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"post_para\">\n<li>66% of our <b><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/blog\/survey-why-our-patients-use-marijuana\/\">medical marijuana patients<\/a><\/b> were prescribed medical marijuana for anxiety or anxiety disorders.<\/li>\n<li>Our doctors have certified patients for more than 23 different medical conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Since 2021, we have provided 64,000 medical marijuana prescriptions for Pennsylvanians (including card renewals).<\/li>\n<li>As of 2020, Pennsylvania\u2019s MMJ program had nearly 300,000 registered patients. To <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/cannabis\/pa-medical-marijuana-card.php\">get a medical marijuana card<\/a><\/strong>, patients need to follow these basic steps:<\/p><ol class=\"post_para\"><li>Register with the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program<\/li><li>Obtain a certification from a state-approved doctor<\/li><li>Pay for the card and complete the registration process.<\/li><li>Purchase medical marijuana from a licensed dispensary<\/li><\/ol><p class=\"post_para\">Pennsylvania\u2019s MMJ program has seen continued growth, with nearly 300,000 patients and caregivers registered as of 2020, highlighting the increasing acceptance and demand for cannabis-based treatment. The program has also seen expansion in terms of available medical marijuana products, including oils, tinctures, capsules, and vaporization options, making it more accessible to patients with different needs and preferences.<\/p><h2 class=\"heading_all\">Our Most Common Medical Marijuana Prescriptions<\/h2><p class=\"post_para\">Below are the most common qualifying conditions among our patients in Pennsylvania. This data reflects more than 64,000 medical marijuana prescriptions since 2021:<\/p><ul class=\"post_para\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/conditions\/medical-marijuana-approved-for-anxiety-disorder\/\"><strong>Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 66%<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/conditions\/medical-marijuana-and-chronic-pain\/\"><strong>Severe, Chronic, or Intractable Pain<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 17%<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/conditions\/treating-ptsd-with-cannabis\/\">Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder<\/a> (PTSD)<\/strong> \u2013 7%<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/conditions\/medical-marijuana-for-neuropathy\/\"><strong>Neuropathies<\/strong> <\/a>\u2013 2%<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/conditions\/medical-marijuana-for-cancer\/\"><strong>Cancer<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 2%<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/sanctuarywellnessinstitute.com\/blog\/medical-marijuana-opioid-use-disorder\/\"><strong>Opioid Use Disorder<\/strong> <\/a>\u2013 1%<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"post_para\">More than half of our patients were prescribed medical marijuana for anxiety or anxiety disorders. Pennsylvania added anxiety as a qualifying condition in 2019, significantly increasing the number of eligible patients. The Sanctuary\u2019s co-founder, John DiBella, shared, &#8220;When Pennsylvania added anxiety to the list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana, we saw a significant increase in patients seeking cannabis therapy for anxiety.
